Job Role

InnovaSystems has a need for a Software Business Analyst for its Navy Reserve Readiness Module (NRRM) project team in San Diego, CA!

Overview

The NRRM team is responsible for all development and fielding of a system that contains personnel readiness data for reserve personnel in the US Navy.  The successful candidate will work with other Business Analysts and the Product Manager to execute all activities specified in the company's CMMI Level 3 certified software development process.

This work requires someone who can communicate and coordinate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, user experience architects, and the product manager to analyze and define the business objectives of the product outlined in the vision statement for the project.

Duties & responsibilities

The Software BA will research and define business needs that are captured in user stories and act as a proxy for the users and customers by interfacing directly with developers, subject matter experts, and testers to ensure the functionality is acceptable in fulfilling the identified customer value. This individual will assist in the development and management of requirements during brainstorming, refining and planning activities.

Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to learning requirements development best practices aligned with Agile software development methodologies. This role will also require a strong commitment to learn the Navy's business domain.

Required skills & experience

  • Effective written and oral communication skills a must
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior military personnel and an agile software development team
  • Ability to work within MS Office Suite is a must
  • Strong organizational, time management and meeting facilitation skills
  • Working knowledge of MS SharePoint and Visual Studio Team System desired
  • Experience with Scrum or other Agile methods desired
  • Experience interpreting software requirements and developing user stories working with a feature team
  • Strong commitment to explore and implement requirements development best practices based on agile methodologies is a must
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) preferred.
  • Two years of professional experience as a business analyst or similar analysis-oriented discipline (e.g. Technical Writer) is acceptable in lieu of formal college degree

 Desired knowledge & experience

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area of study
  • Experience with military personnel systems is desired
  • Familiarity with SQL queries is a plus
