Pipefitter:

  • Read, interpret and apply blueprints for performing work on ship board pipe systems
  • Install, maintain, remove and inspect piping and associated valves, hardware and hangers
  • Layout piping systems or sections, and plans assembly in relation to walls, structures, location of machinery, appropriate places for holes, and similar obstructions and considerations.
  • Cut, bend, thread, and assemble pipe fittings, using various types of shop machinery and equipment and packing pipe as necessary to avoid flattening during bending operations
  • Perform calculations to determine and validate flow rates/volumes
  • Validate temporary ventilation system meets trade standards and requirements
  • Test various piping systems under pressure to determine conformance to standards or to locate leaks and other defects.
  • Perform semi-skilled tasks such as debris removal and fastening air hose connections, electrical cables and flexible
  • Ventilation

Shipfitter:

  • Forming a part of a structural assembly in connection with ship alteration and repair.
  • Repairing and/or removing and replacing damaged ship structures and fittings.
  • Must be able to understand and perform the set up, alignment, and operation of various portable tools and hand tools used in the trade including plasma cutting machines and oxy/fuel torches.
  • In depth working knowledge of the following: shipboard plate (hull, deck, bulkhead) systems (repair/installation practices, procedures, alignments and material requirements), and blue print reading and interpretation

Welder:

  • Performing ship repair welding on deck plating, bulkheads, and foundations
  • Welding work to be performed in main and/or auxiliary spaces, engine rooms, berthing, galleys, tanks, and shop as needed
  • Applies basic welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
  • Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
  • Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts or work orders.
  • Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
  • Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
     

Requirements:

Pipefitter:

  • Must have at least four years of verifiable, relevant and recent (within last 5 years) shipboard experience
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Own basic weld PPE to include leathers, shield and/or hood
  • Must be able to work shift and Over Time as needed

Shipfitter:

  • Minimum of 4 years recent/verifiable work experience in the ship repair industry
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Must be able to work assigned shift

Welder:

  • Experience in SMAW/STICK, GMAS/MIG, FCAW/FLUX, GTAW/TIG
  • Must have at least four years of verifiable, relevant and recent (within last 5 years) shipboard experience
  • ABS certified a plus
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Own basic weld PPE to include leathers, shield and/or hood
  • Must pass visual (VT), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrate (LPT), and or/radiographic inspections (RT)
  • Must be able to work shift and Over Time as needed
