Ship Fitter Job Description and Requirements:  
The Ship fitter will be responsible for assembling and erecting structural steel during various stages of ship hull construction. In addition to fitting and tack welding the large sub-assemblies that form the hull, the ship fitters will build all interior structures such as hatches, doors, and bulkheads to complete all the steel work in the ship. This job is in the shipyard on new construction and repair. 
Applicant Requirements: 
-Needs at least 3 years of recent shipyard experience as a Ship Fitter</li>
-Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check (NO FELONIES)  
-Must have a current resume 
-Needs to be able to burn and prepare plates for installation (must be able to burn and bevel with a torch) 
-Must have experience with Tack Welding, Stick and Flux Core 
-Must have OSHA 10 or be able to attend OSHA Training 
-Must have a rapid gate badge or be rapid gate badge eligible 
-Must be able to read blueprints, do layouts, fabricate metal structural parts, components and entire structures.
