Balfour Beatty Rail (BBR), has been awarded the UCSF Platform Project, a $33 million Muni train platform redesign project for the new Golden State Warriors arena. BBR is seeking qualified Project Engineers (Rail) in South San Francisco, California. The primary role of the Project Engineer is to assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager with the planning and daily execution of the construction project. Responsible for maintaining certain aspects of the project schedule as assigned by the Project Manager, managing the process of submittal approval, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, subcontractor management, and maintaining schedules/budgets.

Essential Functions

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned subcontractors and related RFI’s, submittals, schedules and coordination issues.
  • Ability to work through unexpected issues and construction obstacles
  • Work with project team and direct subcontractors in the field
  • Verify and track quantities.
  • Assist in tracking Potential Change Orders (PCO’s).
  • Assist Project Management with additional tasks as requested. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related engineering degree.
  • One year or more of project engineering experience on a civil construction job-site.
  • Understand project plans/specifications and able to generate submittals/RFIs as needed.
  • Understand survey stakes and offsets to assist field operations.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Bluebeam Software.
  • Provide effective supervision and management of construction work for assigned trades  and vendors to support the requirements of the contract.
  • Willing to relocate to South San Francisco job-site, if not local.

 Preferred Experience

  • Local qualified candidates highly encouraged to apply.
  • Rail construction experience highly desired; including heavy civil, concrete work, track work, traction power work, OCS work, underground work and electrical work.
  • 1 year or more of experience within rail/track construction projects in a project engineer role.
  • Acts in a manner of integrity that demonstrates support for the company values and the employees, while maintaining constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
