APP, Inc. is an international leader in closed and open die forgings of aluminum and titanium alloys and the world's largest producer of Precision Aluminum Forgings. 

 

We are currently seeking a detail oriented Production Control Specialist to join our team in Santa Ana, CA.

JOB SUMMARY: The Production Control Specialist is a key cross-functional administrative position supporting the material planning, outside process purchasing and scheduling desks. This position will be responsible for assisting these departments to ensure accuracy, prioritization, and coordination to meet production objectives. This role will create, input, and track purchase orders to/from our outside processing vendors, coordinate the timely processing and delivery of materials to/from vendors, release production travelers to the shop and ensure accuracy of order(s) and internally route materials with necessary documents. Long range goals for this role involve tracking and improving vendor KPIs and developing vendor relationships.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Support Production, Planning, Purchasing and Scheduling departments in various functions, such as:
    • Review raw materials demand reports, release material(s) to production.
    • Maintain close communication with key plant personnel.
    • Schedule, plan and track jobs to completion.
    • Formalize purchase orders and use approved vendors.
    • Follow all APP, Inc. and customer specs and requirements for Quality Control.
    • Track orders and use approved vendors, review invoices.
    • Track travelers and shop orders – expedite jobs through factory.
    • Receive Purchase Orders for entry back into the system for accounting purposes.
    • Maintain regular communication with vendors via phone and email.
    • Will discern efficiencies related to cost versus lead time.
    • Will visit vendor facilities for meeting, audits and inspection purposes.
    • Verify invoices with accounting if necessary.
    • Complete monthly reconciliation for each vendor.
    • Maintain status on problems and/or problem jobs.
    • Interface with customers regarding schedule.
  • Ensure all quality and production requirements are met.
  • Track performance for KPI reporting.
  • Ensure proper documentation follow the material (blueprints, diagrams, etc.).
  • Will use Company vehicle to visit other APP, Inc. facilities, vendors, and customers.
  • Report concerns and discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with Company, customer and vendor polices.
  • Ensure necessary documents are prepared and retained.
  • Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required.
  • Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Comply with all APP, Inc. safety rules and company policies.
  • Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported.
  • Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment in work area at all time.
  • Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

 

OTHER DUTIES

  • Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by Supervisor.
  • Analyze opportunities for improving the efficiency and cost savings.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Administrative duties will involve filing, photocopying, faxing, data entry, scanning, etc.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if any)

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years experience in production planning or inventory control.
  • 1+ year experience with IFS system (or similar MRP).
  • Able to understand instructions and safety procedures.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

 

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate – Word, Excel, data entry, typing, email and internet.

 

Language Skills

  • Basic English (read, write, verbal and comprehend)
  • Communicate with co-workers, supervisor, and other personnel in English.

 

Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate – Add, subtract, multiply, divide.

 

Travel

  • Valid driver’s license and clean DMV history to use Company vehicle.

 

Other

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Aluminum forging industry experience.
  • Good technical knowledge of the various Aluminum grades.
