Role Summary/Purpose

The Product Management Director is a service product portfolio and product team leader with responsibility for product strategy and team development.

Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will define the product vision and direction for Educational Services by bringing together GE business leaders, product managers & marketers, engineers and customer success functional owners to drive market success of educational services and build a highly effective organization to drive strategic and tactical success of your services products. She/he will report to VP Educational Services and may manage one or more direct reports who are business and technical experts.

  • Transform the educational services portfolio inclusive of new products, purchasing models, partner programs, and learning as a service platform strategy
  • Align with the other Customer Success pillars to ensure that Educational Services products are an integral and complementary component of driving adoption and attaining business outcomes for GE Digital customers
  • Through industry analysis, benchmarking and professional association engagement, be the educational service strategist/expert and drive GE Digital to be at the forefront of innovative products and best practices.
  • Be responsible for the educational services roadmap and future offerings influencing revenue
  • Lead the product vision and strategy development process, including Product Roadmap development and annual review process
  • Develop business case for proposed products and initiatives, including cost/benefit estimates, market trends, competitive analysis, risk analysis, industry best practices and product development timelines
  • Plan, prioritize and manage the product features and requirements from conceptual stages through product life cycles to optimize revenue and meet operational, financial and corporate objectives
  • Develop & execute a portfolio rationalization strategy that phases out products no longer business critical nor profitable.
  • Lead cross functional teams including customer success, product management, marketing, sales, engineering, internal and external customers, analysts and senior management teams to formulate and execute the strategy
  • Track and report on key Educational Services metrics – Revenue, attach rates, installed base/account penetration, adoption, subscription renewals, etc.
  • Develop strong working relationship with account managers, technical sales and user community
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing teams to ensure go-to-market strategies, plans and activities are aligned with the company’s business drivers
  • Develop sales enablement plans to ensure the commercial teams are equipped to sell the educational services portfolio
  • Establish and manage relationship across GE businesses & sub-businesses, partners and customers at CxO, senior management and technical expert levels across industries and geographies
  • Manage and grow the training services team to deliver a great customer experience
  • Recruit top talents to build a highly effective product management team
  • Coach and mentor team members to become strong business leaders
  • Qualifications/Requirements

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical majors or 4 years of technical experience
  • A Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading a product management focused team
  • A Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational services product management
  • A Minimum of 10 years of experience in software industry

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel about 30% of the time to travel within US and globally

    Technical Expertise:

  • MBA preferred
  • Software as a Service experience preferred
  • Proactively drives portfolio and investment decision to balance customer needs, install base requirements (refresh) and long term enterprise differentiation
  • Evangelizes concepts beyond current offerings and considers business model innovation (product, service and delivery innovations)
  • Applies product lifecycle management at the product portfolio level to influence individual product strategies as well as interdependencies between products

    Business Acumen:

  • Evangelizes new technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends
  • Acts as industry expert by participating in professional educational services associations
  • Advises and influences government policies and takes an active role in establishing relationships with key stakeholders within the regulatory process

  • Sets or changes direction at the enterprise level by building and using direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas and leverages chains of indirect influence
  • Sells and improves the Program/Product Management process, its outcome and ongoing results
