Peterson has an immediate need for an experienced Machinist/Welder at our Redding, CA location.  The person in the position performs machining processes for repair and custom fabrication projects.

  • Read blueprints and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces
  • Determine sequence of operation and setup requirements
  • Lays out materials and/or builds up worn components for machining processes
  • Sets up and performs machining operations on conventional lathes, mills, boring machines, and cylinder repair equipment
  • Verifies conformance of finished work to specifications
  • Modify new and used equipment as directed
  • May fit and assemble parts into component assembly
  • May test proper operation of assembled systems and components
  • Write service reports that accurately document activities
  • Prepare required documentation including work orders, parts lists, and time cards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner
  • Operate welding and cutting equipment
  • Perform repair welds on components
  • Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.

  • Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years machining and welding/fitting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lift truck operator certificate
  • Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks
  • Maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • High School level basic algebra and geometry skills are required.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and to pull and apply rotation force on stationary and moveable objects.
